Tidewater Area

Orff Chapter #99

TAC #99 is a local division of AOSA

Fall, 2010

Dear Friends,

Thank you for the opportunity to be President of the Tidewater Area Chapter once again.  I thoroughly enjoyed my first term from 2004 – 2006 and look forward to serving you again.  There are some similarities from six years ago and some things that have changed.  But, isn’t that true in so many areas of life?  I look forward to serving with the other members of the Board that are listed elsewhere on this website.

Please join me in expressing thanks and appreciation to Peggy Muse for her four years of service to our chapter.  She stays on the board in an advisory capacity and her continued input will be valued.  I am most grateful to be working with the Vice President/President “To-Be”, Liz Griffin.  With many new young teachers coming to the Schulwerk, the future looks great.

Our chapter finances look great because of the work of our Treasurer and Camp Director, Paul Putnam.  Thanks to those who volunteered to work at the camp and to those of you who encouraged your students to attend.  Paul is stepping down as Camp Director after many years of service in that capacity.  Although his legacy is impressive, and the job may seem daunting, he will still be around to coach and nurture a replacement.  This is a critical job and we hope to have someone to work with us targeted very soon.  Thanks for helping us identify such a person and for considering doing it yourself.

Be on the look out for a facebook page soon.  Several chapters have one and it is another way to network and keep in touch.

The Annual Conference of AOSA is in November and is across the country in Spokane, Washington.  The distance and time may be against us this year, but plan on attending Pittsburgh, PA in 2011!

We have a great line-up of clinicians this year and next.  I look forward to greeting you at these workshops.  Please encourage a colleague to join you on these Saturdays.  Most of us don’t need the points or credits [they are offered if you need them, and they look good on your resumes] but it is great fun to be together, share ideas, commiserate, and watch master teachers.  We look forward to being at Norfolk State University and appreciate Eric Crawford and the welcome he is offering the chapter.  Stay tuned for further locations.

Should you need to get in touch with me, I can be reached at the following two e-mail addresses:

Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do what I can to make the next two years be professionally fulfilling.
